Reflection

As the days of advent dwindle down to a precious few, a lot of good things begin to happen.  Family & friends come home from far-away places.  Old friends & relatives gather and relive past stories.  There are places to go and people to see, gifts are given and received.

But there is something more, the true power of this season is its ability to speak to the weary heart of each of us, and to the bruised and broken world which God loves so much.  This season is about the coming and making visable of God's peace.  The way we receive God's peace is important to each of us.

Our Gospel tells us there are many ways of receiving God's peace.  Many knew how to receive God's gift.  "I am the maid servant of the Lord.  Let it be done to me as you say".  Mary is not interested in advancing her career or in grand designs.  God is going to do something great.  God will make her a temple of the word made flesh.  Mary is grace filled and at peace because she allows God to work through her.  And when God works through us, there is a peace which the world cannot give or take away.                      Fr Paul
