Reflection

The Words of job contained in our First Reading, remind us to think about the frailtv and shortness of our lives, "Swifter than a weavers shuttle my days have passed, remember that my life is but a breath". These words evoke questions.  Does anything last?  If the word is really made for, ruled by and destined for the God of love, why then must death be a reality no one can deny?  It is our faith in the unbounded love of God which moves us to trust that there is something behind the veil.  Death and loss are real but they are not final.  Nothing of value or goodness is ever lost.  Each of us is forever remembered by God and kept in his love.  God's unbounded love is the absolute guarantee that our anxiety about been forgotten is groundless.  Our gospel reading from Mark highlights Jesus as the healing presence of God in response to human pain & brokenness.  Jesus responds to the worlds suffering with the one thing alone which endures, LOVE.  Love is that which heals and binds up wounds.  The divine care and love that God is, has become visible in Jesus.  ENery day in our society we meet so many people who are in need of healing: healing from loneliness, addiction, poverty, suffering, violence and fear.

Part of our Christian vocation is to bring God's healing love to others.  St. Paul writes to the Corinthians " I do not boast of preaching the gospel it is a duty which has been laid on me".  We to are charged with preaching the gospel by our daily lives.  By sharing our faith and love with those in need we reveal the love of God our ultimate hope and salvation. Fr.  Paul
