Coláiste na Toirbhirte is a girls secondary school and provides a wide range of subjects including the applied leaving cert, and has an atmosphere conducive to discovery and growth, with a well-ordered pastoral care and guidance system.

The School is situated at Árd Aoibhinn to the south of the town in a purpose built school in 1992. The original school dates from 1865. The School is under the Trusteeship of the Presentation Sisters in Bandon. Colaiste na Toirbhirte has 620 pupils and 44 teachers.
